The AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, adopted by ASEAN Leaders at the 46th ASEAN Summit in May 2025, serves as the five-year roadmap for advancing regional economic integration and realising ASEAN’s long-term vision of a resilient, innovative, sustainable, and people-centred economic community. Comprising six Strategic Goals, 44 Objectives, and 192 Strategic Measures, the Plan provides a practical and action-oriented framework to guide implementation across ASEAN. For effective delivery of its objectives, it is essential that the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030 is properly informed and understood by AEC Sectoral Bodies to ensure coherence, consistency and alignment of their sectoral plans including through the integration of its strategic measures into sectoral plans, activities, and monitoring frameworks.
The ASEAN Secretariat will provide the necessary support to implement and ensure effective delivery of the goals and objectives of the AEC Strategic Plan. Assigned within the ASEAN Integration Monitoring Directorate (AIMD) of the ASEAN Secretariat, and under the guidance of the Assistant Director and Senior Officer(s) of the Monitoring, Surveillance, and Coordination Division (MSCD), the Project Officer will assist and support the implementation Part III of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030 on Implementation and Review Mechanism.
The position is open for Indonesian citizens or ASEAN Nationals who are already residing and eligible to work in Indonesia with full-time position based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The position is required to travel intermittently to ASEAN countries as necessary and supported by the Government of Australia through the Australia for ASEAN Futures Initiative (Aus4ASEAN Futures).
Remuneration and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be offered a basic salary of IDR 16,835,950 and attractive remuneration package including outpatient medical reimbursement, hospitalisation & life insurance, and gratuity. Subject to good performance during the probation, the candidate will be offered a fixed term contract of approximately 9 to 11 months, inclusive of the 6-month probationary period.
Reporting to the Assistant Director/Head of the MSCD, the PO shall be responsible to:
1. Support the Senior Officer(s) of the MSCD in conducting stocktaking, mapping, and alignment exercises between the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and relevant AEC Sectoral Plans, including data collection, analysis, and consolidation of findings and recommendations.
2. Assist in the review, updating, and validation of sectoral Key Performance Indicator (KPI) baselines and targets in coordination with ASEC Desk Officers and relevant ASEAN Sectoral Bodies, to support results-based monitoring and evaluation of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
3. Provide administrative, logistical, and substantive support in the conduct of socialisation, outreach, alignment, validation, and capacity-building workshops related to the implementation of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and its Sectoral Plans.
4. Assist in facilitating consultations, meetings, and coordination activities with ASEAN Sectoral Bodies, ASEC Departments, ASEAN Member States, Dialogue Partners, consultants, and other relevant stakeholders to support the alignment and implementation of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
5. Support the preparation of workshop materials, meeting documents, progress reports, coherence status reports, after-conference reports, and other analytical and knowledge products related to the implementation and alignment of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
6. Assist in coordinating and liaising with consultants engaged under the Project, including coordination support for the development of self-paced e-learning modules and capacity-building activities on the AEC MEAL Framework 2045 for the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
7. Support the development, review, and dissemination of outreach, communication, advocacy, and knowledge management materials to promote awareness and understanding of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and its implementation mechanism.
8. Assist in the regular monitoring and reporting of project activities and deliverables, including preparation of periodic progress reports and documentation required for project implementation and administrative closure.
9. Perform other relevant tasks as required by AIMD/MSCD in support of the implementation of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent degree) with academic qualifications in Public Policy, Economics, International Development/International Relations, and/or relevant studies; or Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years of working experience in the relevant area.
- Experience in providing support to monitoring and evaluation exercises for international development programmes, carrying out qualitative or quantitative research in the context of international development, and conducting relevant works on inclusion and sustainability will be considered as advantage.
- Experience in organising outreach events and producing data visualisation in the context of international development programmes will be desirable.
- Ability to plan and organise tasks and workflows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
- Proficient in standard computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office tools and internet applications.
- Familiarity with presentation design and visual communication tools for the development of presentation materials would be an advantage.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent command of the English language, and experience in cross-cultural and international settings.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and agility to learn apply new skills.
